When I was a child I used to play a game called “Follow the Leader,” and the rules of the game was that there is one person that led and we would hold onto that person or stand close behind that person and where that person went we would follow.  We would go through bushes, around trees, over fences and so on, and the last person that was able to follow the leader was the winner.

When I think of the word disciple as relates to Jesus’ ministry, I related to this above illustration.  The 12 men were supposed to follow him, emulate him, learn from him, and if they did that they would have good success.  God's Word lets us know that we are living epistles being read of men, this means that they will follow us as a leader as we follow Christ.

Jesus walked the life of integrity and character so when you read him that's what you saw.  As children of the most by God our leadership techniques must come from the Bible and not what we think leadership is.  Jesus had a mandate from God the Father and he follow the to the letter.  We too have a mandate, our mandate is to make disciples and is a good follower you will be awesome leader.

Effective leadership comes directly from being a great follower and it first starts to submitting to the will and purpose of God for your life.  Just as Jesus Christ was obedient unto the cross we too must pick up our cross daily and follow him.  Even when he went through the trials, tribulations, and the degradation he was still the best leader the world has ever known.  Even though he was King of Kings and Lord of lords, he humbled himself and became a servant unto the cross.

We have a great opportunity to let our light so shine as leaders in our workplace, our businesses and our homes to allow the Holy Spirit to increase in our lives will be leaders just as Christ.  The light draws and affects everything it touches, as a leader your godly leadership should affect the workplace in a positive manner. 

As adults we should play follow leader in the example that leader will cause us to prosper in our business, our jobs and our careers as well as a homes.  Jesus told us that he will leave is a comforter and that comforter would teach us all true.  Surrender to the Holy Spirit and walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  Some people will lead by their emotions or feelings and that does not make a good leader.  Because, if I feel like yelling at my subordinates because I feel like it, causes that type of leadership not to be successful.  Be a spirit man walking and that gives you the ability to lead with compassion, patience, and love.  And I know what you're probably thinking you're saying love?  Yes love, is that love that God gave his best to show us a better way and in the process we received heavenly rewards and believing in that leadership type.  Love conquers all, the wordless is no by loving-kindness has he drawn thee.  Because you love them with the agape love, it is the love that sacrifices and will overlook their faults and see their need.

There is a lithographed many years back called Footprints in this picture gave an illustration of a person being carried in the sand on the seashore.  Jesus says to yoke up with him for his burden is easy, he will not make you a great leader but cautioned to be a great leader because he follows him.
